The 'Treasure Coast' is on the Atlantic coast of Florida and runs between the Sebastian Inlet (north end) and Ft. Pierce (south end), about 20 miles.  I recommend the 'Hurricane Treasure: 1715 Beach sites: Locations revealed' book easily found on Ebay.  It is a thin book (70 pages) and the maps aren't very detailed, but it tells where, when, how, and what to avoid.  Specifically mentioned are restrictions for hunting on State Parks and anywhere underwater near any of the wreck sites.  I was told by a State official that no matter where you are, anything found in the water belongs to the State, and there are heavy fines enforced.

Not sure about the Sarasota area, but have heard that on the East coast there have been 'bubble bottles' found-- these primitive hand-blown glass bottles date to the late 1600's and can be worth $$$ when found intact.

cool, thx for the info....laws tend to vary from state to state.....up here in upstate NY at Lake George "rev war fort" fort william henry a ship and i do belive a cannon or to was found but the person who found it had to tell the state and then uncle sam took over op's,...but since its part of american history and also a historical find, its better off to have people of a archeology group study and record what they find for our heritage than to have some salvager come an destroy the site.......
but for glass or stoneware up here....man its everywhere!!!!!in our own backyards!!!! hillsides and in the river "mohawk"...in my own backyard before my parents built a inground pool "15yrs ago" i pulled a crap load of 1850's bitter bottles and some old local soda bottles"1930's", among other stuff.....but im gonna look forword to hunt in FLA but i have to look into laws and see if i need to be certified to scuba dive...or maybe get a job with a historical salvage company.....thx for the info
