Hi #1 is yes and no. The Excal has 17 Feq, the Explorer has 28.The Excal works on conductivity alone, the Explorer also uses ferrous content. #2 I have never used a CZ20. Have found silver rings where the Excal was in steady null because of nails so thick that each scoop had at least one in the bucket. #3 not sure what you mean here, Depth? ability to handle mineralization? #4 What do you mean everybodys has broken down.Mine hasn't failed. All machine if not used properly or maintained will break. This is a undeserved deserved smear. #5 I have never had my Excal mask gold. How would anyone really know. If your getting a masking signal you don't dig. Neither machine will see a gold ring ontop of a steel plate.

Both are good machines.( I hunt with a fellow that has one. ) The Excal gives you more target ID info but you dig everything that repeats in the water anyway. It's a tough call.
