I own BOTH the Excal and the CZ20.

The CZ20 "WILL NOT" detect small gold rings, ie. the ones with diamonds in them.

I have heard many people say it will but whenever I go hunting with them they NEVER find any small gold rings.

Since I own BOTH units I am not trying to be hard on either unit. The CZ20 is a good unit, WITH LIMITATIONS! It is built WAY BETTER than the Excal and probably will last longer without having to be sent in for repairs.

The Excal is a GREAT unit for small gold and is very steady in salt water if set up right. It also DOES NOT have to be ground ballanced like the CZ20. Just turn it on and go. It IS a very delicate machine though! If you get one you had better get a guard or order a lot of extra knobs! Also get a good hip mount. It is a heavy unit out of the water. With a hip mount though the standard cord will more than likely leak after a while because of the swinging motion.

If I had to chose just ONE machine I would have to go with the Excal because with just one diamond I can buy another one or have it repaired!

P.S. When I take someone hunting with me I let them use my CZ20! HA No one wants to be beat by their own machine!!!!!!!!!
