The Excalibur does not use the exact same technology as the new Explorer. If I was hunting in tons of iron there is no doubt I would be using the Minelab Excalibur (with 8 inch coil). Now my prefered water machine is still so far the CZ 20. Like I said the Minelab will for sure do a better job in iron. But its terrible heavy and the CZ 20 I can belt mount and just swing the loop. That means I get to stay in the sand or water longer. The Minelabs, including the Explorer are some of the most stable salt water units that I've ever used but they are just too heavy.
