I do the same type of hunting that you mentioned above. I tried scoops with 24" handles, then long handles with wire baskets. The wire baskets did not hold up under the type of conditions that we hunt. I finally bought a long handle stainless steel scoop with a 6" basket and a duck bill. It is heavy to lug around but it sure does the job digging in the water. They are available from several dealers that advertise in W&E Magazine. If you can not find one let me know and I will give you some names. I hope this helps you.
