jim, my name is wayne and a number of years ago I found what I believe to be meteorites. There are lots of places on the internet that have pictures of the different TYPES of meteorites. Some are valuable and some are considered common. Go to search and type in meteorite. I recently sent one of my rocks off to Steve Schoner, American Meteorite Survey, PO Box 1003, Flagstaff, AZ 86002. Meteorite Identification@Yahoo.com I don't know if you saw my pics on this forum, but you can see that most meteorites have a crust. This crust is usually brown(rust) or black, or mix of both. Under the crust it is silverish. These are a nickel/iron mix. I hope this helps. Wayne
