When target ID first came out, in about 1982-83, a dealer showed us one at our MD club meeting. We all laughed and said "why bother with that, if you're going to dig anyways?" After each one of use tried them, we'd stop laughing. Now, everyone has them, and we feel naked without them, EVEN when you are going to dig all targets anyways. There is something about the suspense of being in a ghost town/ruins site, where every target is old, and seeing the meter lock onto penny/dime. Of course, it could be a rivot or flat button, but the momentary suspense is just as good as the old days of digging everyting.
