Harleys and XLTs
January 23, 2000 at 14:43:41

Twenty years ago, whenever I would say I rode a Harley Davidson, I would hear groans from the crowd, wondering why I would own a loud, slow, oil leaking, undependable bike. I knew the people saying this rode the japanese bikes. Like they took great offense to it, and couldn't wait to point out why they made the "better" decision. I would just say "to each his/her own". Today, it is en vogue to own one, since they are dependable, and you don't have to be a mechanic to ride one. I also see a lot of posts on these forums saying things like "My (insert brand here) kicked an XLT's butt" or "My XLT is trash, and I am going back to (insert brand here)" Reminds me of the old days. Why can't people just admit that one machine doesn't do it all? Just say "To each his/her own"
