When tuned properly, both are very equivalent. Both have certain specific advantages over each other.

Fisher CZ can be swept slower than the XL withOUT losing the deeper targets.

XL enjoys a 'greater' resolution or range in the analog meter v. the segmented or zoned VDI of the Fisher.

Fisher's TWO frequency can be considered an advantage on deeper gold and nickels but multi-frequency has a tendancy to falter in heavy mineralization. The XLT on the other hand has a wider continuous range of discrimination which can be precisely lowered to IGNORE rather than REJECT iron, thus improving "masking" and deep target response.

The Signal Balance of the 6000 XL is incredible and it can tackle almost any mineralization.
