With budget not an issue, what detector should I purchase? December 27, 2000 at 10:43:23 Hi all, Thanks in advance for all who reply. This is my first posting. Hope I did it correctly ;-) I have wanted to add detector'ing to my list of hobbies for years and am finally going to do it. But I can see after reading 100+ messages on this forum, I still feel I need some guidance. It seems people speak highly of the big 4, Minelab, Fisher, White's, Teroso, but which one should I go with??? A list of hobbies that will be enhanced by a metal detector: SCUBA, Remote control aircraft, Astronomy, Basic exploring. I live in north Texas yet travel all over the world, mostly US though. Also, I live just minutes from a famous WWI/II POW camp, Camp Hause (spelling?) This spot is full of war stuff, even a gun here and there! I want to purchase a unit that will travel well, have great depth in sandy loam, clay, sand, water, water proof to 50+ feet, fresh water, salt water (not often), good pinpoint as well, looking for metals, iron, silver, gold, gems (if that option exists), etc. I really don't mind digging up anything at first. It's all fun to me :-) I mentioned budget not being a problem but lets be realistic. Everything I need to operate, maintain, and protect the unit to its' fullest under ~$1500. Any suggestions on what and where to buy would be great and look forward to hearing from you long time detectorists!
