Craig, My first choice would be the Fisher CZ 20 but to be honest if you do very little diving and a whole lot of land hunting, the smart thing would be to have two separate units. This is Ideal. Here again it would depend on what you search for the most. I have several units for different types of hunting. Here in Florida I've found it to be true also in Tenn..The Minelab is the deepest seeking unit on the marked that I have found and have compared it with all the top brands with well expearebnced hunters using them for the test of comparing them. The Minelab to has limitations whereas the CZ land units will do better in trashy areas. I find the Minelab to be the superior on the beaches, the Fort Sights and the 1800s ghost town and house sights. The CZ's are the superior in the more modern sights. The 1280 fisher I would not suggest because it isn't very good in wet salt sand. To use the Fisher CZ20 for a land unit you are going to automatically loose around 3 to 4 inches compared to the CZ 5,6,or 7. because it stays in the salt mode at all times and that cuts dry land depth penetration. The Whites and Tesoros are very good machines but fall short in comparison to depth with the Minelabs and the Fisher CZ 's . A lot of treasure hunters will tell you such and such are the best units but in most cases they are comparing there findings to inexperienced detectourest and not with the more experienced well seasoned hunters. For just getting out and doing some every day detecting you could flip a coin for which one to use because they are all good units. To be a perfectionist and get the Max in all fazes of detecting, the units I mentioned are the one to do the jobs best. Remember this is my own opinion and Be it for what it is worth I have been detecting sense 1960 and go detecting almost every day. Butch Mayes
