Hi Aaron, Your Classic II should have plenty enough depth to reach older coins. It takes a little time to get used to the machine and what it's telling you. try to run the sens as high as possible without getting false signals and you will get better depth. The Classic II is a good detector and stable and should give you good service for many years. Sure, there are machines on the market that will give you more depth and most of them have somewhat of a long learning curve to master in order to get the depth. You can get a little more depth by ground balancing but the factory preset on your unit should work well in most areas (except salt water beaches). Read your manual very carefully and don't get discouraged, it takes time. I know a lot of people who have yet to find their first silver coin. HH Scott/NC
