1912 US coin...what is it?
June 16, 2001 at 13:06:56

When my daughter Elizabeth was given change at the store, she discovered an old coin, and we have been trying to figure out what it is.

It appears to be silver, roughly the size of a nickel. There are 13 stars on the front with a woman's head in profile...the back is worn. We can make out 'cents' but nothing else..also a wreath on the back. And again, the date is 1912, which is the clearest thing on the coin.

What can anyone tell us about this coin?
