i use a dfx but the xlt is pretty much the same.i set my block edit to accept every thing from -30 to +94 and that way i can decide what i want to dig.if i get a good solid tone i check the vdi if it falls in the range of anything good check the graph and look for a good clean single or double bar. if they all agree i dig. it's important to remember signature of junk so you don't waste time and effort to dig it.however there's absolutly nothing wrong with digging every signal if thats what you like to do.but on the other hand if you want to dig every signal you could have bought a much less expensive unit and it would be just fine.that's the purpose of high end detectors such as yours,to sort the junk for you. to me,half the fun of using the dfx is sorting the signals and learning what it's trying to tell me. like you, i'm on my own here.there's no one to hunt with and no one to ask questions.if it weren't for this forum and the whites forum i'd be way behind the game.you can learn a lot from other users if you read the forums.don't be afraid to ask questions and if you have an answer to a question by all means we want to hear it.wishin ya clear skies and soft dirt--jim
