i've had mine since august and didn't get to use it much because of the heat but since things are cooling down i've got to use it quite a bit.first off i'll have to say it,s deep.last evening i was finding those little lead heads off of roofing nails at 7-8".most of the coins i've found have been in the 4-6" range so far.i've dug rusty nails at 9" which brings me to the odd part-when the ground is wet it will drive ya nuts on rusty nails,it thinks they're good targets. the trick here is to disregard the tone and vdi and look at the graph.i've pretty much found that if all 3 indicate a good target it generaly is.picking coins out of trash, especially pull tabs,is the best i've ever used.it takes a bit of practice and i've got a long way to go.in short,i've not read a post anywhere from anyone that regretted buying the dfx.in fact i've read of people going back over places with the dfx that they had hunted with the xlt and found stuff the xlt had missed.for more information check out the dfx forum.just my observations.jim
