Dingle Disaster
September 30, 2003 at 12:09:51

From the land of the Bluenose.....I spoke too soon about how nice it was to be doing a land dig and facing the hazards that I was familar with....forgot one....sliding down the side of an embankment. Thought I'd do the Dingle after Hurricane Juan with all the trees toppled exsposing some deeper ground so I headed to the north end where Andy,Harold and I had found some nice silver. Stepped on a moss covered rock and away I went...almost into the arm. Cut open the leg(no stitches needed) , scrapped my hand and banged my head on a tree trunk (no harm there) with the worse damage to my poor old machine. Phoned the Garrett Plant in Texas and am looking at $140 Canada repair bill and two to three weeks without my machine. Found a 42 penny before the incident. What the halibut the water hasn't frozen over yet. Hope Fed Ex is gentle with her when I mail her out later this week! This is my second tumble this year as earlier in the summer the same thing happened on McNab's Island. Will let you know how the service is at the Garrett factory!
