Meteorites and Copper Artifacts-MTX
April 04, 2004 at 10:40:37

20 years ago i had a long forgotten model Garret detector . Don't recall what i traded it for . A few years ago i purchased a Gold Bug and managed to find 2 pieces of quartz with visable gold , one meteorite and many copper artifacts made by the natives of the north shore of Lake Superior thousands of years ago . I leaned the Gold Bug on the back bumper and drove over it. Time for a new one .
The Whites MTX is looking like the one but i need some advice . Most of my hunting will be for copper artifacts and meteorites but since most meteorites possess varying percentages of iron , some have a lot of nickle , which would be the best mode to search in ? I don't want to discriminate iron out since that's what i'm looking for . Relic or prospecting mode ?
The copper artifacts are made of native copper that has been cold hammered to shape . Relic or prospecting mode ?
There is no trash where i hunt so discrimination isn't a big deal but the ability to tell a hot rock from a meteorite could prevent a lot of useless digging . Any thoughts on that regarding the MTX ? Thanks guys . Art
