Back in Key West....With Gold

May 28, 1998 at 17:43:19

Back in Key West after 3 1/2 weeks. Got some nice gold (dry washing) and nuggets (metal detecting). I read a lot of the posts on the Minelab and others from the last month while I was gone in the past few days. I had a chance to work the same area on my claims with a friend for 3 different days. I let him go first and then I would followed. He used a Fisher Gold Bug and had my SD2100. We spent about 4 hours each day working the same 20 X 300 foot part of a wash. His score was 58 junk and 0 nuggets, mine was 79 junk and 19 nuggets . His junk was 1 to 9 inches and mine was 1 to 20 inches. I had one small nugget at 1 inch (3/16 X 1/16) and a 3/4 oz nugget at 20 inches. Each day we worked the same spot as the day before. Every day was more gold for me and junk for him. I got the gold and he removed junk for me as I told him. I only used the 8 inch coil.....More in a few days on my trip.....Richard
