Richard,

I read your posts and have a hard time believing them. To me, it sounds like another tall SD 2100 tale, posted by a Minelab dealer, or someone who has never used one. I could be wrong, I frequently am.

FYI, keep SD 2100 coils away from salt water, or the morning dew for that matter. They operate best in a warm dry climate, and become erratic when wet, it's especially bad in alkalis. Maybe the new SD 2200 will correct some of the 2100's problems, that's to be seen. If you believe the SD is without peers, put it up against a $2,000 PI, PI's are not limited to 100 milli watts, and they are not affected by mineralization. The Tesoro LST with an 11" coil outperforms the SD 2100 with an 8" coil at a fraction of the cost. Been there, seen that, may buy one. If there was a simple answer, my partner and I would not use five different machines. There is no "one" best machine.

The SD 2100 does give me the opportunity to dig iron and junk at greater depths, but for every deeper nugget, I've dug 200 or more deeper square nails, etc. Perhaps you enjoy digging deep nails in hard pack, I do not.

If you skunked your partner that bad, maybe he should consider taking lessons from Larry Sallee, Gordon Zahara, Jim Eakin, Glenn Anderson, Bob Miller, etc. Your ridicule did not solve his problems, elevate your stature, or the SD 2100's.

Viper
