No help in Nevada!! But thanks for the input!! :-)

"You can sometimes find the glory pile or pride pile". I never heard the terms before but this is the type of piles I have found. The tailing are down the hill and were used to form a flat working area in front of the shafts as you see at most sites. The glory pile or pride piles are just outside of the shafts. The "old timers" made a stone wall with the large chunks of ore and filled the center with small chunks under 2". These are the samples I have. The quartz is very fissured with iron oxide (hematite). When crushed everything turns a light red color. The water from the sluice is almost blood color. My neighbor came over and wanted to know if I was cleaning a pig for my Fourth of July party with a chain saw!!!! ....Richard
