Carter, someone once said they would rather spend all day carrying in a 4" dredge than dredging all day with little bitty backpackers, I personally agree, I would never trade my 4" for a any thing smaller , after you carry it in you will very quickly move more material than the back-packer models and all of the rocks you will have to move with the small one , but this is my 2 cents worth , Rich
