Crack open the bedrock and look for hardpack. The sluice had a header box, so it's a little difficult to use it like a normal sluice, but with enough water it can be done. You can set the motor on the bank too, or just leave it on the pack and move around with the sluice and suction nozzle. Pretty versatile and real easy to handle. If you've got a lot of slope you can use the suction hose upstream and gravity feed the water to the sluice box and hand feed the box with cons or stuff you've dug out of the bank or behind boulders. Lots of ways to use it, just experiment and I think you'll have a great time with it.
