Question

August 17, 1998 at 19:45:27

I am finding fine particles of gold to small flakes of gold along a narrow strip of land (approx. 2-3 miles wide by 20 miles long). The gold shows up sporadically along the creeks in this strip. The old streem benches seem to show the same amount of color, but nothing bigger. The bedrock is to deep to attemp to reach. Our last trip out, just out of curiosity we panned some dirt out of some small drains that ran out of some pasture land and had about the same results as what we panned in the creeks(20 to 60 pinheads per pan). The area is in S.W. Okla.,The mountain range here is very old 500 million years old. The area also used to be covered by an inland sea long ago, is it possible this could be a concentration by the sea or a flood plain deposit the gravels dont show to be to water worn. Any one have any Ideas?
