Yes chuck there is gold in Michigan. At least 135 regestered gold mines in Michigans history. (I read that some where many years ago) There is even a lost gold mine in the lower Peninsula. I did a little prospecting in Michigan about 25 years ago. No gold but a lot of fun. One story in the upper Peninsula is of a Native American that would go out for a few days and bring back enough gold nuggets to last him a month or two. He did this his entire adult life and no one could follow him. He took his secret spot to the grave with him. Happy hunting. Steve C. FL
