hi wayne--your right----i spent the summer there in arlington. you couldn't detect in any state parks without a permit. and when i got the permit then they had all kinds of rules made up at the spur of the moment, or at the whim of whomever was "in charge " on that particular day. i went to a park near seabeck to hunt the beach. i talked to the head ranger and was told that i could metal detect, but i couldn't dig any holes. well i told him that i wanted to hunt in the water--he said well that's ok but you can't dig any holes there either. i said well what about the clam diggers?---he said "well--------i guess it's ok if you dig holes so long as it's in the water, but if you find anything of any value, you have to turn it in to me"------i thought --such a deal. well i detected for 2 hours and the only thing i found was a rust encrusted 38 cal. pistol, and a double sized ax head-----both probably used to commit murders---i didn't turn them in.--hoss
