RockChuk, How do again: I hope it doesn't come to "Lock and Load" also. Our county has lost 82 thousand acres to the feds. This is a huge bite out of the tax base. The spotted owl lost half our mills and more that half the local jobs. Happy Camp looks like a disaster from a 3rd world country. Now the rest of the mills are closing and timber is a renewable resourse!! Mining is next. NMFS is now coming in to take private property and the BLM is buying up whatever it can with our tax money and will close it off! There is a test going on in Utah at Flaming Gorge. Federal lands, are being charged for access. I think its $20.00 a year. They are setting a president. More recreational places will be next and then all federal land wil be by permit only. Counties have to be made aware of whats happening. They hesitate because of federal grants and monies they think they depend on. Nye County Nevada did an assessment on what they lost to the feds. It was in excess of 180 million or some such figure. All the grants the feds put out didn't come close to matching the loss. The counties have to have a local Land Management Plan. This, under NEPA, requires the government to work with the counties on land management planning. The counties will have to push for this to be heard and taken seriously. If you are not already a self rule county, start the process, otherwise you are just an extension of the state and have no say in what goes on. Get county ordinances passed that bring government people into the local courts and sheriff jurisdiction. Get orginized into People for the USA, Farm Bureau ( this is a good one, look up Siskiyou County Farm Bureau on the internet and see what they do), Defenders of Property Rights, anything that lets you know whats going on. That's the problem, people just don't know and we need to get this information out to them. The cities are where the votes are. They have never been hit before, all they see is helping the environment against us evil people that live here. They don't know they are locking themselves out also. Seattle and Portland are going to feel the hits now over the new Endangered Species List on 9 new salmon. These cities are now in the "critical habitat" of an endangered species. ANYTHING that can affect these species will come back to haunt these cities. Then things will start to change because that's where the votes are. Now for some info that you may need. ELF, Earth Liberation Front, has made it their business to save nature. They have bombed the ski resort at Veil Colorado causing 12 million dollars in damage because of the endangered Lynx. The resort had the odasity to try and expand. They have declared an "April Fools Day Bash." Any "earth abusers" will be the subject of attacks.
