So it's all my fault, huh? Hey, all I did was recommend you smell the coffee. Need more? Here's the Cliff's Notes on Reality 101:
A. Don't like your elected officials? Your recourse is to vote the rascals out. Trouble is -- who ya gonna vote in to replace them? Jimmy Stewart's dead.
B. You don't like the Dems? Go ahead and get you a bunch of Reps and see what that does for you. THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE BEYOND THEIR MASCOTS. (Hint: turn off Limbaugh -- he's an empty suit blowhard with no solutions).
C. Gonna demand fair play from the beaurocrats (BLM, State, NFS, F&W, etc.)? You might get it in court if you have the time and money to wait. You've got a better chance bribing them for your permits, etc. At least in Mexico and elsewhere there's a time-honored procedure for this that everyone understands.
D. Nearly ALL that our government sells us is snake oil. But, hey, some of us like to believe it's good for what ails us and we line up for more. Others suspect it's cheap whiskey with a fancy label.
E. The days of rugged pioneers, hard-working homesteaders and wilderness prospecting IS OVER. I don't like it any more than you do, but we aren't '49ers any more. The territories are all states now. There is no public land without restrictions left in the USA. Outrage and phone calls will not change the situation. If you want to pan the creeks, either follow the rules or figure out how to work around them. If you can't handle either course, maybe you need a different hobby.
Sorry if this offends anyone. For those of you who think I'm full of it -- go ahead and keep running up your phone bills to your reps. Maybe someone will toss you a bone.
