Lets go on the OFFENSIVE! tactics

April 02, 1999 at 14:52:20

I was talking to a mining frend of mine about the fight to keep our mining rights, and a interesting idea came up I thought I'd share with everyone here.

We seem to always be put on the defensive, trying to protect our rights, but what if we went on the attack like this.

This should be done when we have more that (1) person showing up at a meeting, the more the merrier. But we start out like this.

It is a proven fact that dredging is beneficial to the fish habitat, in particular the SALMON. (if they want proof, we look at them like they are CRAZY, and say "Everyone knows that, just look at your own state maps of ESSENTIAL SALMON HABITATE, every one of them (and I just looked) every one is a area that has been dredged. Salmon dont like the heavy clay mud as egg laying ground"). That it is a PROVEN fact that dredging loosens up the microbiotica and is proven beneficial to the salmon habitate.

"Maybe we should be PAID!!!" (let them go on the defensive). Then we try to steer the discussion onto "How MUCH we should be paid. Is it per cubic yard dredged, or on a hourly rate"? We all spend thousands of dollars of our own money, many MANY hours IMPROVING the salmon habitate. If they want to ask WHERE the money is going to come from, we say "from those who are benefiting from our helping to produce MORE salmon. From fishing licences!"
