More on PFUSA and OIM and voting...PLEASE READ

Hi all! I started this new post as I don't know if threads can get too long for this forum or not. It looks like we may have struck a chord here with PFUSA? Question now is, "HOW MANY OF US ARE REALLY COMMITED TO JOIN?" This is important, as of right now there are about 15 who say Yea (including emails). I'm quite sure that isn't enough. If you are a forum reader who dosen't post, but who wants to be a part of this PLEASE email me or Clark with your commitment. We need to approach PFUSA and tell them pretty closely what our numbers are, so if you haven't already, it's important that you respond if you want to see this thing happen. If there's not enough interest we should just put it to bed for now.
I spoke with John Holleman who is Executive Director of the Oregon Independent Miners. A truly great person who does a lot for all miners and prospectors. Though he is up to his neck in alligators, and couldn't be a web-master himself (he is a volunteer), he wholeheartedly supported a website like we've been proposing. A clearinghouse of important info that any miner or organization in the country could tap into and stay up to speed on what's happening on a national, as well as local level. He felt that if we addressed the Federal issues and the more important state issues on the site, and then addressed the smaller state and local issues on a bulletin board, that that would be the way to go. The bulletin board would be open to anyone who could post their local issues for all to act upon. For instance, a ways back down the forum we were asked to call a Ranger in MT to put in a good word for a couple miners there. This type of info could go on the bulletin board. By the way, I for one am going to join OIM as well as PFUSA as OIM does a wonderful job in protecting the rights of the small miner. They are a "political hammer" (their words) and are tied in with numerous other mining associations so that their membership is around 7,000 people. It's only $15 a year to join. Check their website for more info if you're interested.
Since I've already spoken with PFUSA I'd be happy to continue with this phase, that is unless somebody else feels inspired to do so. If so I'd be more than happy to let them. If it comes to the point of getting technical with their webmaster I'll have to bow out as I'm a computer moron. Will some others then step up at that point...please? We'll know a lot more this next week, but please make sure to let your wishes be known before Monday if possible (again, either by continued posting or emailing Clark or myself). Regards and thanks to one and all! RC
Below is the email I sent PFUSA after my last post. I do hope this is what you wanted to communicate. I'm sure I left out important points and I appologize for that...
Hi Shannon, it was a real pleasure talking to you! This is an outline of the things we spoke of on the phone. I am a "member" of perhaps the world's largest Small miners/Prospectors forum called T-net Prospectors Forum. We have folks on it from all over the world who's main interest is mining, either for profit or for recreation. The forum has grown from a few posts a day several months ago, up to nearly forty posts daily at times. Recently the big concern is the continuing government encroachment upon our rights, mining rights in particular. We have spoken of forming our own organization, but Stan Meager and others have introduced us to PFUSA and what it's all about. Though we realize that everything you stand for is of utmost importance, and either directly or indirectly affects mining, understandably we are most concerned about mining rights. So our proposal is this. At this point we have 50-100 people who would be interested in joining PFUSA immediately if you could have a site off of your home page that dealt directly with things pertaining to mining concerns, particularly for the small miner and prospector. This would be an icon on your home page which when clicked on would send the person to the mining page. We have checked out several Eco sites, and a lot of them really have it together in using the web. One site in particular interests us (URL below) and we'd probably like the mining site to be close to it in design. It's simple and super easy to get the info needed to take action. We want a site that step by step almost takes you by the hand and tells you simply how to take quick and effective action. There are several knowledgeable folks on the forum who could work with your web master to make his job easier. We would feed the needed info to the webmaster who would then post it. I feel this could only benfit PFUSA because 1) we of course would join PFUSA, 2) The web's only growing by leaps and bounds so this site will be accessed more and more, 3) Anybody who visits the mining site will have to go through the PFUSA homepage, thus they will be exposed to PFUSA perhaps for the first time. MANY small miners and prospectors live in remote areas and cannot travel to meetings, this mining site will be their meeting place and keep them up to speed on the issues, 4) you'll be quite impressed with the caliber of people you'll find in the recreational/small mining field. They, for the most part, are "doers" and are more aware than many others of the perils facing this country. 5) Any group, such as PFUSA, should be tickled to have aboard and to accomodate the reasonable requests of such an outstanding group as the small miner and prospector!
Again Shannon, it was great talking to you! Hope this email is interesting to you good folks.
Thousand thanks and take care! Tod Steele
Please note that I am not official spokesman for this forum group, so they will be giving their feedback about this all weekend on the forum, I'm sure. The forum's URL is the following if you want to take a look:
http://www.treasurenet.com/forum/prospecting/
The Eco website we may wish to see the mining page patterned after is:
http://www.harborside.com/cc/foer/page11.html
Please be sure to check this one out for yourselves and see what you think. Like I said they made it really simple for the reader to take quick action. In fact, I can see us "looting" these websites to take their info. and write letters OPPOSITE to the issues they are promoting!
