Since Hoss has explained what the ground is like in Georgia, take it from me Jason (I'm no Minelab rep),if you get anything other than a Minelab SD2000, SD2100 or SD2200d, you will remain a new chum for so long that you'll lose interest in chasing nuggets.

Start off with a good 2nd hand SD2000 and if you cant find some nuggets with it you'd be better off to give nugget hunting a big miss. If you like the hobby after 3 months and you feel confident about getting more serious with it, sell the SD2000 and get into a SD2200d, then you'll be really on the pace.
