thanks billy---we have kin that lives in boonville nc---i have been in the vein mtn. area, and i've been to loud mine area several years ago and had the chance to detect in both places---got some small nuggets, and a lot of trash---have'nt been there lately---i do know that the ground in georgia is super hot in some areas. however i will say that the hotter the ground the deeper the minelab sd's go. i did ,in 1994 find a place in junction city where i had trouble with the xt17000---it still worked ,but i had to put it in the difficult ground mode, which cuts back on the sencitivity---there for i lost depth and never found anything deeper than 2 or 3 inches---but no other detectors could work there ---this area was a hydrawlic area, that was on the south side of the trinity river ---i think it was the trinity. the nuggets there were about 1/3 of a gram or smaller. i found some nice nuggets on some of the other hydrawlics, by rolling boulders---1 and 2+ dwt. nugget size.but i prefer the desert---i should be in your area next fall. i should be in missouri in june.---i have kin there too
