Hi Jason, I just got back from a prospecting trip to the Buchanon area of GA. I have never seen so much black sand in my life. I took a Gold Bug with me but I was mostly panning and sluicing looking for a place to dredge. The bedrock was exposed in alot of places so I tried the Gold Bug just for fun. I got it ground balanced ok and it was giving signals on lead shot. I think I dug 3 lbs. of lead. I am not saying I pin pointed any nuggets, but in one hole I kept getting signals and by the time I got it all dug out I wound up with nine small pickers. I think any detector would have found all that lead but if the lead settles out there so does the gold. If I was strictly going to detect for nuggets in GA and I could afford it I would go with one of the Minelabs. By the way I just took it for granted that my coil was water proof, I hope I did'nt ruin it.
