Talked my son into going looking for old mine dumps. Did great only got 4x4 high centered once all day.A group of hang gliders came by and helped get p/u jacked up and threw a few rocks under wheel and we were back in business.Besides they had to get us out of the way so they could get ack down the mountain. We found an old site where they loaded wagons from a hopper.The hopper was still half full of ore & dirt.We took two buckets home and sluiced buckets. there was a big slug of amalgam in first ripple which I separated from other fine gold found in dirt. This place will need further inspection as there was loads of quartz in the dirt.I believe I saw the area they were digging in but did not have time to detect it. We did find one piece of quartz w/ a little gold in it.So small you need a Loop to see it. All in All it was a great day w/ my son even tho we didn't hit the Motherlode.Just another typical Taylor weekend!!
