endangered rivers

April 15, 1999 at 07:47:33

Here's the recent list of most endangered rivers compiled by American Rivers, a conservation group. 1) Snake in Washington because dams threaten salmon. 2) Missouri in Mt., N.D., S.D., Neb., Iowa, Ka., and Mo. Dams and channels hur the river! 3) Alabama, Coosa and Tallapoosa rivers in Georga and Alabama (if they lump them together like this they get more rivers) threatened by ground water use and sprawl. 4) Upper San Pedro in AZ. threatened by wells and sprawl. 5) Yellowstone in Mt. and N.D. by building up banks and flood control dams. 6) Cedar in Washington by Seattle sprawl hurts salmon. 7) Fox in Ill. and Wis. by sewage and runoff from Chicago. 8) Carmel on Monterey County, CA. by sprawl draining the water. 9) Coal in W.V. by coal mining. 10) Bear in Utah by S.L.C. water consumption.

It seems they want us to stop using water altogether. How long does it take to die from thirst? Do away with our cities, tear down our dams and do away with flood control. Lets put ourselves back 200 years and starve our population. All these rivers are endangered by humans. I wonder how mother nature has been working without us all these thousands of years. Stan
