Mining Trips?
July 01, 1999 at 09:18:32
Miner Jack, a friend of mine who lives year round on his claims on the South Fork Sixes in SW Oregon, is considering selling pretty exclusive 3-5 day mining trips. He has a guest cabin that sleeps 5, and a dredge in the river for a common, plus all kinds of panning, sniping, crevicing, and metal detecting for gold available on his claims.
It's remote---hiking trails in and out(drops nearly 1200 feet in elevation in a couple miles of trail) so it would require guys in good shape. Rugged go, but as close as you could get to going back 150 years and mining in an unspoiled, old growth forest environment. Gold is plentiful to he who works at it. Jack makes his living at it. He's got one of those tracked Honda Power Carriers to haul gear in.
Anyhow, he asked me to ask people on the forum if they thought this kind of trip would spark any interest, if not to forum regulars, perhaps others if it was promoted. Cost would probably be somewhere in the $400-$500 range for the trip--depending on what was provided. Anyone got any ideas or feedback? Thanks very much. Gold season is upon us out here and it's shaping up to be a great year.
