This area has been designated as available for "Eco-Tourism" and the Forest Service allows special use permits for nearly any activity that is conducted in an environmentaly approved manner(hiking, nature tours, etc) including permitted small scale or recreational mining. There are even Federal Grants available through the Forest Service. (Idea is to provide jobs and opportunities to displaced loggers and fishermen due to timber harvest restrictions and endangered species habitat) Similar to what the Jet Boats do on the Rogue River, and the lodges do on Federal Land in the Wild and Scenic River corridors. Mining can be covered simply by the Notice of Intent, or in the yearly filed Plan of operations.
