Family outing for panning around Jackson?

Howdy,
Just found this forum, love it! I have done a little (very little) prospecting a long time ago (1980), and I am looking
to take my family (8 year old and 5 year old) to do some
panning and learn some history around the Jackson area.
Was wondering if anyone could suggest some fairly specific
location that would be appropriate to take the youngin's
that could produce a little color in the pan. Also, any advice or things to look out for ( I am aware of claim markers, etc) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much! - H
