Four ounce nugget found at the Great Northern.

G'day All
I took my sluicing gear down to the claims last weekend. Wally came for a couple of days and gave me a hand to unload the pump. While we were there he showed me where he found the nugget.
It was exactly where I told the only female member of last years tour group, to have a try. She was a vegan and took more notice of the birds and flowers and scenery than her detector. At the end of the second day she had found nothing and I felt a bit sorry for her. So I showed her a spot I had been saving for myself.
I remember saying; "See how the Chinese have worked their way up the creek and stopped digging at the foot of the hill. Well the gold came from the reef at the top of the hill, so start where they stopped and head uphill." Simple enough, but she missed it and three other small pieces. The nugget was shaped like a small cucumber and weighed 3.5 ozs clean. That brings the known total detected to 1637 ozs. Amazing how it just keeps coming!
Doug's tour group arrives this weekend. I will let you know what they find. I'm off sluicing.
Cheers All
Dave
