This site tells all about the access to public roads in Federal lands. It gives you the definintions, laws and the rights of access to the counties in which 2477 roads lie.
They can't close them or keep you out. I had an access road to some of my claims blocked this summer by upwards of 75 dump truck loads of fill dirt from a storm cleanup, and when I presented the Forest Service with this information, they went back in and removed all blockages--and apologized. If I hadn't had the correct information, they would never have capitulated, and Clark, Paystreak, and I would have a heck of a time getting in to our claims. I suggest you print whatever is pertinent and carry it with you. Good luck and take care.
