USFS propose to revise management planning
January 07, 2000 at 12:17:08

I know that some of you don't want to hear about political issues. but if you don't get involved in this one fast, the sky IS going to fall. The Forest Service Proposed rule to Revise Land and Resource Management Planning is the title iof this little jewel, and will change the mission of the Forest Service from Multiple -use to that of ECOLOGICAL SUSTAINABILITY. Read between the lines on that one. If you aren't an endangered species, you aren't welcomed. Another tidbit included in this is that it would allow the Regioal Forests of the Chief to Override any local plan at their discretion. It would also change the way that wildlife is treated, requiring direct population counts of species instead of monitoring habitat. (what if they decide to make these counts when a species is dormant or hibernating, or even migrating)? Think about it and get involved before the Feb. 3, 200 deadline. Don't you guys see a pattern here?
