If you look in your GPS owners manual, the BEST that GPS can get NOW (after SA (Selective availability - degredation by US Military) is on the order of 15 meters (or 50 feet). Before they made this move, your GPS would have been accurate to an average of 100 meters (or 320 feet).

You cannot get 1 meter accuracy with a consumer grade GPS because of other 'errors' that are a natural phenomenon with GPS frequencies (ionospheric delays,etc,etc).
