King Ludwig connection

I'm looking for a history buff that knows an early colonial connection with King Ludwig to the American revolution. I found this button with the latin phrase "Ludovicus Rex Plures Non Capit Orbis" and the probable latin translation is "King Ludwig, No greater world leader" Was there a Bavarian or German military leader or unit that would have worn this button on their uniform? This button was found in Bucks County, Pa. Thanks to all who can help
