If any of you are in good with someone in the paleontology, archaeology or biology department at a university, see if you can get them to check a half dozen or so of the bullets with a scanning electron microscope. I know in archaeology and paleontology that's how scientists determine if bones were chewed by carnivores or cut by flint tools, and generally they can determine if the marks were made by a tiger, jackal, etc. Just a thought...
