Yes, I found two crossed sabres. They are called hat pins. I found them at a site in southeast Missouri. The first one I found was in two pieces, broken in the center. But, when placed and mounted on my artifact frame, the break is hardly noticeable. The second one I almost didn't find. I found a small piece of the lower sword hilt and was looking at it when I realized it was the last half inch of a crossed sabre hat pin. I then swept the area again with my detector and found five more pieces. When put together they made a whole hat pin. I placed these in my relic case with a small space between each piece. They are prized finds for me and I would never part with them, besides I would have to remove them from my relic frame. The site where I found these was a small campsite used by both the Union and Confederate forces. It has yielded many small pistol bullets; company letters; buttons; three picket pins; one confederate spur with a small buckle and remanants of leather; a curry comb; and other articles, all of which point to a cavalry campsite. However, we lossed access to this site as the owner recently sold that part of his farm.
