Just got a letter from the Daniel Boone National Forest, Kentucky two days ago. They informed me that detectors were not allowed in the forest or around historic sites, but during winter months they issue permits to hunt parking lots and campsites. They also told me detectors were banned from the streams, but that one could use a small rock hammer for simple prospecting.
