I agree with you, relic hunting is for friendship and fun. It is also a family affair for me and generally turns out to be more of a social event. However, there are too many people out there who don't think like that. There are too many people who think that if they see you hunting in a field, then they have permission to hunt in that field. Many of these people hunt for $ signs too. I know of people in NC who never do research and yet are successful - their key is they "follow other people around and listen to where they are hunting". Those were the people I was referring to in devil's advocate. If someone sees a person hunting a sight, talk to them, find out the story. Tell them you were just driving by and noticed them hunting. Most people don't have problems with this, I don't. Good luck and good diggins'
