Dave, Your 1st button can be identified in Albert's Button Book as item #CF-4-A on pg. 119. It's a California National Guard staff button most likely of the late 19th Century. The book describes it as "The device with N.G.C. in place of motto, dots on border of shield." Its RV (Relative Value)is only a few dollars. Your second button you need to be more specific with. There are thousands of varieties that fit the description that you give. Minuteman
