Hi Joe, I'm glad you are going to get into metal detecting and relic hunting. It's great hobby. I live in Texas now but I grew up about 75 miles from Madison, Wisconsin. As far as I know there are no actual battle sites of the CW in Wisconsin, but that doesn't mean you can't find Civil War relics there. There were places I believe called "muster sites" where the troops would gather for training, picking up their rifles and other arms etc. You have to go to the library and find out where these muster sites were and then try to locate them. It will take quite a bit of research, but hang in there. HH. Loyd
