As one of the previous responses said, rings do not define caliber. Caliber is the bore size of the gun in inches. Also previously mentioned was that calibers varied greatly. But chances are that you found a .58 CS Gardner. Because of the wide use of the Enfield rifle (only .577 caliber as opposed to the regular .58), the North and the South pretty much adopted a diameter of .574 and packages were marked "For .577 or .58...".

BTW, Gardner bullets were not made with inserted cups as M&M describe. That was an educated guess on their part back in 1975. Since then drawings of Gardner's cartridge machine have surfaced.
