Hi Trapper, It's good that you specified what you will searching for. That's a big factor in the type of detector you'll want to use. For relics, I would suggest the following. "Nautilus, Minelab Sovereign XS, Fisher 1266, Tesoro, and I'm hearing a lot about a new detector called "The Shadow," which I haven't seen any results of yet. I believe the Nautilus has the best depth, but the Minelab operates with 17 simultaneous frequencies, and has an excellent "iron mask,". I use the Minelab, and have dug many good targets that were in the "same hole," with a rusted iron nail. I would get a "clear," solid signal, dig down about 5 inches, and pull out a rusted nail. I'd rescan the hole, and the signal is "still there." I'd dig another 3 inches or so, and up pops an old coin or a civil war bullet or button. To be honest, I would recommend the "Nautilus," if you're the type of person that will be "persistent," in learning your machine, like the back of your hand. A lot of guys that don't get out in the field much, buy a Nautilus, and get frustrated because they don't know how to get the settings correct and don't find much, but if you know that machine, you will dig relics and coins unmatched by other machines. If you decide on a Nautilus, talk to "Peter, SC." Now, the basic truth is also, that no matter what brand detector you use, if you know your machine, do your research, be persistent, and be in the field often, you're going to be successful. Hope this helps. Keep Diggin'!! Darryl (VA)
